How it works
A clear process, from first review to follow-up.
-
Step 1: Identify the work
You
Share the original work, the URLs involved and the rights you hold. Ask before sending sensitive documents.
-
Step 2: Confirm authorization
You and Takedown Bureau
We confirm who holds the right at issue, and that your written authorization covers these works and this action.
-
Step 3: Review and prepare
Takedown Bureau
A person at Takedown Bureau reviews ownership, authorization and potential copyright exceptions before anything is filed. Where a request is appropriate, we prepare it in the format YouTube asks for.
-
Step 4: Submit and follow up
Takedown Bureau
The request is sent from our published filing mailbox. Correspondence, corrections and retractions are recorded under the matter’s internal case number.
YouTube reviews each request under its own process and decides what action to take.
All eight stages, and the standard behind each →Why work with us
More clarity. Less administrative back-and-forth.
- Every matter is reviewed by a person
- A person on our team reviews the evidence, authorization and relevant context of each matter before any removal request is submitted.
- Written authorization before we file
- When we file as your representative, written authorization covering the works and the action is in place first. You remain the copyright owner.
- One case number per matter
- Correspondence, requests for more information, corrections and retractions are recorded under the matter’s internal case number.
- Corrections and retractions on the record
- If we confirm an error in a request we submitted, we correct or retract it and record the change in the case history.
- A separate contact for platforms
- Platforms and reviewers check our communications through a published verification mailbox, kept apart from client correspondence.
- Deliberately focused on YouTube
- We work on YouTube copyright matters only, and say early when a matter falls outside that scope.
Four commitments behind every matter
- Verifiable, or it didn’t happen.
- We disclose no more than the process requires.
- A person on our team reviews every filing.
- We tell you what we can’t do.
How we report
Public reporting begins with our first completed reporting period, under a published counting method. No vanity metrics.
Engagement & pricing
Scoped to the work involved.
Every engagement is quoted on scope — the works, the suspected uses and the work the matter involves. Binding terms are set out in a written engagement agreement.
- One-time engagements
- Quoted according to the scope and complexity of the matter.
- Recurring engagements
- Structured around the works you identify and an agreed review cadence.
Questions
Before you get in touch
Short answers here; the guides go further, with their sources.
What does Takedown Bureau do?
We help copyright owners deal with suspected unauthorized uses of their work on YouTube. A person on our team reviews the evidence and written authorization; where the review supports it, we prepare and submit removal requests as the owner’s authorized representative; and we follow each matter up under an internal case number.
Can I submit a YouTube removal request myself?
Yes. Any copyright owner can use YouTube’s copyright removal process directly; a representative is not required. Our guides explain what a request has to contain if you file it yourself.
What information should I prepare?
The original work and where it was first published, the exact URL of each suspected copy, and what shows the rights are yours or that you are authorized to act. Ask before sending sensitive documents — a short first message describing the matter is the right place to start.
Does Takedown Bureau guarantee removal or a copyright strike?
No. YouTube reviews each request under its own process and decides what action to take. We do not guarantee removal, a copyright strike, channel termination, a timeline or the outcome of a dispute, and the uploader may respond through YouTube’s counter-notification process.
How is pricing determined?
By scope: the number of works and suspected uses, the condition of the evidence, the filing and correspondence involved, and whether the work is one-time or recurring. Binding terms are set out in a written engagement agreement.
How can a platform verify a communication from us?
Our filing identity is published on the verification page, and original filings come only from copyright@takedownbureau.com. Sender details can be forged, so questions about a specific message should go to compliance@takedownbureau.com, typed from this site rather than taken from the message.
Have a copyright concern to discuss?
Start with the original work, the URLs involved and what shows the rights are yours. A short first message describing the matter is more useful than an attachment folder.
Reviewing a message from Takedown Bureau?
Our filing identity, representative role and verification contact are published for platforms and reviewers. Original filings are sent only from copyright@takedownbureau.com.
