Operating doctrine
The Bureau Standard
The Bureau Standard is our operating doctrine — the conditions under which we file, decline, correct and report.
-
01. Identity Standard
Every filing is submitted from our canonical domain, takedownbureau.com, and signed by a named individual at Takedown Bureau. We do not file through third-party mailboxes or unrelated domains.
-
03. Evidence Standard
We do not file until the claimed original work is identifiable and the available evidence supports the claim being made.
-
04. Copyright Exception Review
Potential copyright exceptions, including fair use, are considered before submission. Matters that remain materially uncertain are not filed.
-
05. Human Review
A person at Takedown Bureau reviews the evidence, the authorization and the relevant context of every filing before it is submitted. We do not send fully automated requests.
-
06. Filing Accuracy
When we confirm an error in one of our filings, we correct or retract it promptly and record the correction in the case file.
-
07. Retraction Standard
Retractions and corrections are issued through the same canonical filing identity as the original request — copyright@takedownbureau.com — and follow the relevant platform’s own retraction process. Where a retraction is appropriate and we are authorized to act on the matter, we do not charge the uploader for it.
-
08. Conflict Standard
We ask each client to tell us whether another agent has been instructed on the same works, and we avoid filing where duplicate representation would create conflicting claims on the same matter.
-
09. Transparency & Corrections
Public reporting follows a published counting methodology. If a published figure is wrong, we correct it and record the revision with a date.
-
10. Responsible Filing
We do not knowingly submit a matter based on fabricated ownership, fake or forged authorization, or evidence we know to be false. We do not file to suppress lawful criticism merely because it is unfavorable, or to use a copyright process for a commercial dispute that is not about copying.
These are Takedown Bureau’s own operating standards. They are not a statement of what any law or platform requires of a filer.
The four public pledges on our About page summarize this doctrine.
