Engagement model

One-time engagements

One matter, quoted per case: a defined set of works and the suspected uses identified so far. The quote reflects how many works and uses are involved, the condition of the evidence, and the filing and correspondence the matter needs. The matter is tracked under its internal case number through resolution.

Engagement model

Recurring engagements

Ongoing work on an agreed schedule — for example, scheduled monitoring: a recurring review of identified works at a cadence agreed for the engagement. Suspected unauthorized uses found in a review are documented and handled under the same review and authorization standard as any matter. Monitoring is periodic, and no review can promise that every use is found. The fee structure, duration and renewal of a recurring engagement are set out in its written engagement agreement.

Written engagement

Binding commercial terms — including the scope of work, fees, payment, duration, renewal, cancellation and refunds — are set out in the written engagement agreement for each engagement. Nothing on this website replaces that agreement, and terms can differ between engagements.

Scope

What affects scope

A quote follows the scope of the matter. Tell us what you can about each of these when you write, and say what you do not know yet.

  • The number of works involved.
  • The number and type of suspected uses.
  • The condition and complexity of the evidence.
  • Whether we act as your authorized representative, and the authorization that requires.
  • The filing and correspondence the matter is likely to need.
  • Whether the work is one-time or recurring — and, for monitoring, the agreed cadence and scope.
